Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20221021-63CFD-2147353223. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kidde P4010ACS. Incident: I have five smoke detectors in my house. After 13 years, I replaced them all with a Kidde brand detector. After a couple of months, I received a recall notice from Kidde. They eventually replaced them with a different model. Soon after I installed the new ones, I started to get false alarms. I had them all wired together so the false alarms reverberated throughout the entire house and it was impossible to know which one had falsely triggered. I then adjusted the wiring on each one so that they would not all trigger if one triggered. Over the next year or so, each one would falsely alarm. As each one would give a false alarm, I pulled it. I was left with just one fire detector and that one alarmed the other night, now I have no working detectors. I've called Kidde twice (once today) and have yet to have a confirmation that they will replace them even though they have a 10 year warranty. There is certainly a flaw in this model.
