Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20221101-64947-2147353010. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Mr. Coffee 14-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker BVMC-PC14BL2. Source model text: ECM160-RB. Incident: I recently purchased a Mr. Coffee 4-Cup Steam Espresso System with Milk Frother (Model number ECM160-RB). This morning, I went to fill the carafe with water, and the plastic lid/top fell into the carafe. As I pulled it out, the carafe shattered in my hands, inches away from my 8 month old sitting in her highchair. There was virtually no resistance in pulling the top out of the carafe, and I did not have to tug or apply pressure for the glass carafe to shatter and splinter into dozens of pieces. I now have tiny cuts all over my hands.
