Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20221122-E43AE-2147352447. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Kenmore 111.21212120 (Kenmore upright freezer). Incident: I purchased a Kenmore upright freezer in June 2021 it was delivered in August 2021 a few days ago I heard a loud pop like something blew up but never did know what it was the next day the same noise again like something blew up so I went to the freezer to get something and noticed stuff was thawing so I emptied it all out and in to our other freezer and unplugged it and thought well maybe the coils are just froze over so I plugged it back in this morning and waited a while and went back and checked and no coldness what so ever so I unplugged it again and decided to check and make sure nothing was blocking the fan but what I found was scary and could have caused a serious fire on each side of the coil were melted burnt plastic the coil had got so hot that it melted and burnt the sides of the freezer and I'm assuming that was the popping noise that I had heard
