Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20221219-0169A-2147351965. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Kenmore 790.80323310 (kennmore above the stove microwave stainless steel). Incident: there were no injuries as I caught it in time . the microwave started running on its own but before it turned itself on I could smell wires burning then the light came on it wasn't turning it was just on smelling like it was going to catch fire . I unplugged it and flipped the breaker off at thd main .I called and Sears would not replace it as it was like 10 days out from the 1 year warranty but this same microwave in the counter top one had a recall for burn Hazzard so all of these may have had the same thing wrong from manufacturer. still to this day we haven't been able to replace it. I believe its the Megatron that burned out and this could have caught our home on fire had we been gone .Sears would not help us and I know had we been gone it would have caught fire .If they had the same recall on the countertop ones they need to see about this one as im probably not the only person this has happened to .
