Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230303-B70CB-2147349064. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Kenmore Elite 41982.410 (Kenmore Elite front-load washing machine). Incident: Kenmore Elite front load washing machine purchased in April 2018 started on fire after completing a cycle. The fire stayed contained inside the machine prior to being sprayed with an extinguisher. While on fire, the smoke from the machine filled the home and went out the front door. After calling Kenmore, Sears, and Sears Home Services no one seemed to take action. I was told by the technician that he wasn't a fire expert and could not determine where it started but probably wiring. He took pictures and everything inside was melted. Someone in scheduling said they have had many calls and they think there should be a recall. So far no one will help me and the service is awful. Automated transfers with no one really helping that has any authority. Firemen said the house would have burned if we weren't there.
