SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230406-300CE-2147348239. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Breville Mini Smart Oven BOV450XL. Source model text: BOV450XL. Incident: 5 or 6 year old Breville Toaster Oven Model #BOV450XL--Imprint # 1650. Had not used the oven for about 24 hours. We were asleep and heard beeping which we had not heard before. When we went into kitchen toaster oven was beeping and turned ON and was extremely hot. We unplugged device. An hour or so later we plugged the toaster oven back into wall and it started to beep and then 15 or so seconds later TURNED ON BY ITSELF without us turning it on. We again unplugged the toaster oven and plugged it into a totally separate wall outlet and same thing happened. Circuit breaker at no time tripped. We called Breville customer service who said they had no similar reports and that there was no recall. They offered to repair--we said "no". They would not replace as out of warranty but did give us 35% coupon for another purchase. What happened was very dangerous and we have never experienced this before with Breville or [REDACTED] toaster ovens
