Genie Garage Door Opener, model 1055B-KV started to make a buzzing noise, loud enough to be heard from the room above the garage. I called the manufacturer, Genie. After many phone calls, emails and submissions, Genie decided to send me a replacement part to be installed by the home owner. In the interim, the unit began to make a burning smell and puffs of smoke. Homeowner disconnected the unit from the electrical outlet. Genie has provided written instruction to disassemble the unit to install the replacement part. The homeowner followed the written instructions and disassembled the unit.
