Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230531-FA051-2147347278. Severity: Injury, Level of care not known. Matched catalog product: GE The model # is -JGBS60DEK6WW.. Source model text: GFE24JMKLFES. Incident: We bought a fridge mid pandemic. Apparently, GE issued a bulletin on the computer within the fridge. A batch of faulty computer parts were used leading to failure of the entire fridge. We did not know of this and were not alerted to this by GE. We thought we were going crazy. The fridge seemed to keep getting warmer. We dethawed it twice. One child even had food poising as a result of unsafe temperatures. We immediately called a repair tech out the minute we noticed there was a more serious issue. That person told us about the bulletin. $752 repair. Despite publishing a bulletin, GE is not sticking by the product, not issuing refunds. In addition, not informing customers about this could lead to food poising (as in our case) and cause severe health problems, especially for the immunocompromised.
