Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230601-83035-2147347240. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kidde Model P4010DCS-W. Source model text: P4010DCS-W. Incident: Late at night one of our Kidde P4010DCS-W photoelectric smoke alarm with voice and wireless began saying "fire" although no fire/smoke was present. The red light would also alternatively blink along with an amber light, which the raised text on the alarm explains that this indicates a fault. The alarm was placed into hush mode but alarmed again after automatically exiting hush mode. The alarm had to be permanently disabled and discharged with a screwdriver. We contacted Kidde customer service several days ago but have received no reply.
