Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230612-D4331-2147347054. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Char-Griller 9020 (This is a Char-Griller Pellet smoker, model 9020, serial number R0014300B.). Incident: I own a Char-griller Model 9020 Pellet Smoker/Grill. The grill was "off" (it has a rotating switch to turn it on). The grill started by itself and ignited the pellets starting a small fire since the cover was on the grill. I noticed the fire right away and unplugged the unit. I re-confirmed that the unit was OFF but it turned on spontaneously. I tried contacting Char-griller and their recorded line stated that they do not speak with customers directly, but to send a message via their website which I did on June 1st. I received an automated reply that somebody would get in touch with me (automated case # [REDACTED]) within 5 business days but nobody called or wrote. This is a serious fire hazard and should be addressed. Since the company won't even take a report of the issue, I thought that the most prudent thing would be to report it to your offices.
