Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230704-C4666-2147346633. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire Gallery FGES3065PFM (30" electric stainless-steel slide-in Frigidaire Gallery range). Incident: Several months ago, the right front knob of my range began "chirping" on and off if I bumped up against it while cleaning the cooktop. Then a few times I heard it "chirp" in the middle of the night all on its own. On two occasions, the burner connected to this knob turned on by itself while I was in the kitchen but nowhere near the range. Last month, I hired a certified Frigidaire/Electrolux repair service to diagnose the issue. After removing the front panel, the technician found no visible damage of the control circuitry to the knob/burner. However, when I asked for it to be replaced, the technician discovered that the part was no longer available. So now, I have a range that really concerns me and no way of repairing it. When we went out of town recently, we unplugged the range thinking it could pose a fire hazard in our home. If the parts to repair it are no longer available after only four years, the manufacturer should recall it and replace it. Period.
