Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230719-53A23-2147346320. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: HP SPECTRE X360 15 HP SPECTRE X360 CONVERTIBLE 15-CH011DX (HP 15-inch Laptop...HP SPECTRE X360 15 2 in 1 ULTRA 4k). Incident: Swollen laptop Battery issue has occurred on 2 separate occasions. once in Feb 2021 and currently in July 2023. The keyboard and space bar has started to malfunction and the bottom plastic cover is deformed due to persistent overheating. There is a quarter-inch gap between the top and bottom covers. In 2021 HP first rejected my battery issue because of an expired warranty but eventually determined the battery was defective and agreed to repair and fix the problem. The Hp Claims Department stated that the laptop issue was fixed. I never expected this battery situation to occur in such a short span of time. 2 years is much too soon for a second battery replacement. Something is definitely wrong with hp's laptop's latest batteries. I have a 2014 HP Pavilion AB series that runs flawlessly and never needed a replacement battery or any other replacements.
