Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230810-8605D-2147345879. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Electrolux EFME627UTT. Source model text: EFME627UTT0. Incident: We purchased a dryer in DEC 2019. An Electrolux 8 cu ft dryer (Model EFME627UTT0). While using the dryer in a regular cycle t hi is week we heard a loud bang followed by smoke and noxious fumes. The dryer immediately lost power and was rendered unusable. It wasnt until Aug 9th when the repair person came that we found the control board had burned up! We have the burned parts as well as photographs. Electrolux has been awful to deal with citing the fact that we did not purchase an extended warranty and saying there is absolutely nothing they can do short of selling me parts to repair it or helping me purchase a new one. This is a HUGE SAFETY concern and they are very much not interested in helping us find a resolution. Thankfully we were home to turn off the breaker and the burning stayed confined to the dryer itself and did not spread beyond.
