Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230815-E9DF0-2147345797. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Breville Breville Mini Smart Oven Model BOV450XL. Source model text: BVO800XL. Incident: Set oven to cooking temperature -375F, placed food inside walked away. Came back 20 minutes later oven had set itself to 120F and food temp was 82F, uncooked chicken. Previously the oven had reset temperature unattended. Added a video file where you can observe the oven change the temperature without any external influence , temperature drifts from original 350F down to 200F over the course of a few minutes. First time this happened was while cooking raw chicken. We have also seen the oven drift up in temperature to its limit of 450F, again without any operator input. This is a potential safety hazard. Oven is just over 1 year old (July 2022) and manufacturer did not want to know, offered a repair at $135 plus shipping as it was a few days outside the warranty period.
