Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231101-CD376-2147344260. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LDE4413ST (ProBake Smooth Surface-Element 4.3 cu ft. / 3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Double Oven True Convection Electric Range (Stainless Steel). Model #LDE4413ST Price: $1,199.00 Purchase Date: 09-16-2020). Incident: I purchased an LG ProBake Smooth Surface-Element 4.3-cu ft / 3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Double Oven True Convection Electric Range (stainless steel) in Sept. 2020 at Lowes. For the last 2 years, it has had multiple burner problems. The left front burner no longer works at all. But that burner knob must be turned on in order for three of the other burners to work when turned on. Otherwise, those burners won't work either. Also, the level of heat on the burners that do work increases and decreases on its own, during use. And yesterday, suddenly, the oven/range began to make "ding" sounds -- as if something is ready -- even when it is not in use and has not been used in days. This appliance began malfunctioning after just one year of occasional use but now more electrical issues are surfacing. I recently spoke to a neighbor with the same LG Range/Double Oven model having the same problems. He was told by an appliance repairman that the appliance needs a whole new electrical panel, and that the electrical issues could cause a fire. The repairman said he is seeing this issue a lot with LG appliances manufactured during the Covid pandemic.
