Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231204-8B1B8-2147343649. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung NX60A6751SS (Samsung NX60A6751SS - 30-in 5 Burners 3.4-cu ft / 2.5-cu ft Self-cleaning Air Fry Convection Oven Freestanding Smart Natural Gas Double Oven Gas Range (Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel)). Incident: I purchased a Samsung double oven model:NX60A6751SS over the summer. This particular oven has a removable piece inside that allows it to be used as a double oven or single oven if the piece is removed. The first time I tried using it, the food I had in the top oven immediately started to burn. Luckily I smelled it right away and removed it. I assumed I had done something wrong. The next time I used it, I preheated the oven and placed a dish inside. Not long after, I was in another room and smelled smoke. There was a fire inside my oven! Thank God I smelled it. I got it put out before it spread. After weeks and weeks of going through trouble-shooting and such, I realized that they use a broiler to heat the top oven. Even if you put the oven on "bake" it uses a broiler which burns and causes fire to anything you place inside. Samsung sends repair people out to fix it but they cannot do anything because that is the design of the oven. After multiple small fires, I can now only use the tiny bottom portion of the oven or I risk the lives of my family. This product should not ever have been placed on the market. I have personally read hundreds of reviews online of the same exact story as mine.
