SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231218-8FFA2-2147343363. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: Samsung QN65Q90TAFXZA (65� Samsung QLED tv (model QN65Q90TAFXZA)). Incident: I bought a new 65� Samsung QLED tv (model QN65Q90TAFXZA) three weeks ago. Upon turning it on for the first time the setup audio came on, but the screen stayed black. After about 60 seconds there were loud popping noises and smoke started coming out of the top of the housing. I ran over and unplugged it and got my wife to grab one end of it and we rushed it outside as it continued to smoke. We got back inside and my wife was very shaken up. She is currently 13 weeks pregnant and began freaking out about whether breathing in that smoke could have hurt the baby. My entire house also smelled like chemical smoke, so I opened up all the windows (it was below freezing outside) and turned on a box fan. I then called Samsung, and they told me that this is something they take very seriously and I would be contacted within 24 hours by the group that handles this type of thing. Two days go by with no call. I call back and they tell me that I was supposed to get a call and they will make sure I do, and that I will definitely get a call in 24-48 hours. Two more days goes by with no call, so I call again asking if they can just transfer me to whoever is supposed to call me. They transfer me and I speak with someone who asks me to explain exactly what happened, then repeats everything I told her back to me to make sure she has all the details. She then asks what resolution I�m looking for. I told her I would like a replacement since the tv caught on fire as soon as I turned it on, and I don�t feel safe with it in my house given what happened. She tells me she will see what they can do, and
