Incident: I am a tenant in a townhouse with my boyfriend, and our water heater thermostat caught on fire. After looking into causes and specifically the model number we learned that our landlord provided us with a recalled water heater. It is the Rheem brand performance platinum model no. XE50M12EC55U0 dated October 2014. Thankfully we used a fire extinguisher and there were no immediate injuries, except smoke inhalation
