Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240530-DB421-2147338917. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire LFEF3054TFG (Frigidaire Oven). Incident: I contacted Frigidaire customer service on Tuesday, May 28th, to report an issue with the exterior oven glass on my mother's Frigidaire oven exploding during use. The model # is LFEF3054TFG and the serial # is VF90510005. While I understand this unit is out of warranty, it is only 4 years old. The glass was not damaged and she was simply baking a meatloaf. Luckily no one was in front of the unit, as the force of the failure blew the glass 8 ft across the kitchen. I simply don't believe this to be an ordinary wear and tear failure. If it was an element, or some type of electrical issue, I'd say oh well and move on. I was offered 10% off a replacement part, however I am hesitant to trust a part from the same source that provided the failed one. There are smaller children in the house on occasion, as well as dogs. Just the right height to sustain facial injury.
