SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240606-5B26B-2147338775. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Maytag MVWB835DW4 (Maytag, white color, 5.3 cu ft Product Height 43 inches Product Width 27 1/2 inches Product Depth 28 inches Height With Door Open 57 1/2 inches Capacity 5.3 cubic feet). Incident: I am writing to formally report a dangerous incident involving a Maytag washer that occurred at my home on June 2, 2024. The details of the washer are as follows: Model: MVWB835DW4 Serial Number: C94272138 Date of Purchase: November 27, 2019 On the aforementioned date, while the washer was in use, it suddenly exploded with such a force that it shook my entire house, akin to a bomb blast, causing significant damage to the Maytag washer and posing a severe risk to the safety of my family. Fortunately, no one was injured. Given the severity of this incident, I believe it is crucial for the Consumer Product Safety Commission to be aware of this issue. I am concerned that other consumers with the same or similar models may be at risk of experiencing a similar dangerous event. I request that the CPSC investigate this matter to determine if there is a defect or safety hazard associated with this model of Maytag washer. I would also appreciate any guidance on the next steps I should take regarding this incident.
