Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240621-01539-2147338485. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Dan&Darci Illuminated Tracing Tablet No model number. Batch 092023 (Dan&Darci Illuminated Tracing Tablet. Manufactured by Surreal Brands LLC). Incident: I am reporting a charging cord fire hazard in a children's toy. Dan&Darci Illuminated Tracing Tablet. Sold by Surreal Brands LLC, Brooklyn, NY 11219. Manufactured in ningbo, China. Sold on Amazon at the following link: https://a.co/d/0buVB7rn My child received this tracing tablet as a gift this week. Yesterday the charging cord was plugged in and charging for maybe 15 minutes, and the end of it that was plugged into the tablet melted. We smelled a very strong plastic/chemical smell but didn't realize what it was at the time despite looking around. I happened to unplug the tablet to move it, which was fortunate, or things could have gotten much worse. I later found the end of the charging cord stuck to the carpet with the plastic melted and browned/blackened. I went to Amazon to check reviews and there was a review and photo posted from just a few days ago with the exact same problem, so there is a problem with these cords.
