Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240728-5ED23-2147337669. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Westinghouse WGEN 3600 (Westinghouse 3600 Watt Duel Fuel generator). Incident: Hello, my name is [REDACTED], and I live in Houston, TX. Following hurricane Beryl, I used my Westinghouse 3600 DF generator during power outage using gasoline. While the generator was running, I smelled strong gasoline fume and discovered a pin hole leak in the gasoline fuel line. I was able to stop the generator and avoided a fire. I would like to add that this is the second time I used gasoline on my generator. The 1st time was when I did the generator break-in. Six out of seven time I used propane to prevent the carburetor gumming up. I believe the fuel line is made of inferior material, and it broke down on 2nd use. Upon close inspection, beside the pin hole, the fuel line showed sign of heat stress. I believe this is serious fire hazard, and carry potential loss of life or property.
