Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240809-F79D7-2147337376. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung 1st stove NX58M9420SS 2nd stove NX58H9500WS. Source model text: NX58M9420SS/AA. Incident: The recently announced recall on [REDACTED] electric ranges with front-mounted control knobs [REDACTED] should include gas models as well. I have had a Samsung gas range (model NX58M9420S) for 6 years, and we frequently accidentally turn burners on or, worse, turn the gas on without it being ignited, just by bumping the front-mounted knobs. The knobs appear to have the same design as those on the electric models. The knobs barely have to be depressed inward before they can be rotated to the ON position, making it very easy to unintentionally turn the gas on to a burner with a slight bump of the knob. While this has not resulted in a fire or injury in my home, I see no reason the current recall should be limited only to the electric models when the same issue exists on the gas models.
