Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240812-92BCA-2147337271. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire FFID2426TS6A (Frigidaire brand dishwasher manufactured by Electrolux Home Products, Inc., Charlotte, North Carolina 28262. Our Frigidaire dishwasher's Serial # is: TH30978187. The Model # is: FFID2426TS6A.). Incident: My husband and I bought a brand newly built house in June 2023 that came with a new Frigidaire dishwasher. He found that water was leaking from the dishwasher when it was operating, and observed water falling on the floor (after the dishwasher's front low kick plate was removed). After further testing, the builder and I noticed that one section of the heating element inside the dishwasher at the base of the appliance, was touching and in direct contact with the dishwasher's interior plastic in one section, had melted the plastic, and the heating element was fused to the plastic. This is a very dangerous condition and could have caused a fire. As it is, the leaking water from the dishwasher, has caused water damage to a section of our new home's hardwood floors, causing a section of the floor to swell up, lift, and separate from other boards. With our Builder, we cut off the power to the dishwasher and the water supply line and have stopped using the dishwasher effecti
