Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240820-2E2F7-4874449. Severity: Injury, Level of care not known. Product: LG lrg4115st (Gas range knobs). Incident: Caller stated that her gas range emanates gas fumes because the knobs when brushed against it moves easily causing the gas to escape. Caller stated that she has been experiencing this problem since purchase. (9/21/22) A service technician came out and advised that they should place a safety plastic cap on it, however, it did not fit. Caller stated that her spouse accidentally bumped against it without his knowledge, and it came on. (8/20/24) Caller stated that she contacted the manufacturer but they are unwilling to assist. Caller feels that this range poses a safety hazard and should be reported. (10/2/2024): The knobs on this stove move so easily that the slightest brush up against it causes the gas to ignite the fire as it did occasionally, since purchased. The woman I spoke to did not explain the problem entirely as I told it to her! My husband was not injured, I was, but only slightly. The main and most serious incident was when our son came to visit us and when he walked in the door he said "I smell gas". This is what caused me to call the LG people again for the second or third time. They then sent out a technician from a company called [REDACTED]. As he was talking to us, he accidentally brushed up against the knobs and the fire came on! In the end of his visit he told us to purchase a child proof knob covers (whic we had already done but they did not fit) and to get a natural gas detector (which we did as he told us and I quote "They (The LG people) won't do anything about it!") The next serious incident was when the gas detector went off in the early morning becau
