Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240824-38FC5-2147336948. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kidde P4010ACS. Incident: Kidde Model P4010ACS fire alarms repeatedly produce false alarms when no fire or smoke is present, most commonly in the middle of the night. The only way to make them stop doing this is to disconnect and disable them. This has the effect of desensitizing people to fire alarms. I have experienced this with two different units, and reviews of the product indicate that it is very common for this to happen.
