Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240827-66CFE-2147336890. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: NX58H5600SS/AA. Incident: My Samsung Gas Stove model number NX58H5600SS/AA Serial 0BGGyDDF70261W purchased in 2015 have defective knobs. The knobs on the appliance can be accidentally activated . The knobs do not lock in place and do not have to be pushed in with pressure to activate.. There is practically no pressure needed to activate the knob. My husband activated the knob by reaching up in the cabinet above the stove to get something not knowing he bumped the know activating it. We left the home and when we returned, our house was full of gas because the burner was slightly turned on with no flame. I know there is a recall for this same issue being reported for the electric ranges but not for my particular range that has the same problem. Note, this is not a gas issue, it is a knob issue. Samsung informed me my model was not part of the recall. I would like to report that the recall issue is also with the gas ranges. We are very lucky our house did not blow up due to gas pouring through the burner because the knob was only slightly turned. The fire department told us we were very lucky nobody was killed or injured when entering our home in this incident. Samsung would not help with replacement my knobs or providing me locks for my range because it is not part of the current recall. When the incident occurred, I immediately put on child safety covers over the burners. This should not be a solution. Samsung needs to correct this issue on all ranges. This is very serious!
