Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20241014-370D2-2147335986. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Electrolux EFME627UIW. Incident: Electrolux dryer model EFME627UIW bought 6 years ago caused a smell of fire in our home. The technician that came to repair it, removed the top panel which was burnt and found that the control and wiring harness had burned. This appliance malfunction could have potentially caused a fire in our home and it poses a fire hazard to consumers. It is important to note that we are diligent in maintaining the dryer and take care to remove lint after every cycle to ensure proper functioning and safety. The dryer was used by myself at that time, with a normal cycle selected and a normal load of clothes, as usually done in our home. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damages beyond the dryer itself, which was deemed too costly to repair.
