Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20241015-1E081-2147335963. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: Samsung Model No. NE58K9850WS (Glass top slide-in kitchen range.). Incident: I own a Samsung Range Model No. NE58K9850WS Serial No. OD217DCJ400217D which you already know to have dangerously designed control knobs. Just accidentally brushing against these controls will inadvertently turn on the burners on this model kitchen range. In my own experience, I have had two small fires and one painful burn as a result of this faulty design. Instead of a recall, you have apparently authorized Samsung to provide the [REDACTED] solution of glue-on covers that will supposedly preclude this issue. These covers are, however, so cumbersome that they will quickly be damaged or discarded because of the major inconvenience that they create. The solution that you approved is obviously inadequate and I ask you to reconsider. Additionally, please note that the Samsung website they created to provide customers access to even this [REDACTED] solution is not working. Email communication with Samsung is being handled by AI and produces illogical circulars responses. They are not handling this well and I could supply the email string I have had with them as a clear example.
