Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20241016-F5533-2147335929. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: SaluSpa S100105 (This is the Saluspa Ibiza Airjet inflatable 4-6 person hot tub with a Bestway P07000 pump, Model #S100105). Incident: We were draining a recalled hot tub (the Saluspa Ibiza) so that we could move forward with the recall on the pump. I noticed tiny little wisps of smoke from the window, went outside to investigate, and the cord of the pump had burned and was continuing to burn a 6x3" hole through our back porch. It looked like a smoldering campfire. The hot tub was turned off, but still plugged in, and my husband was draining it. This left a roughly 6 inch by 3 inch hole burned between 2 deck boards on our back porch. I have no idea how long it had been burning, but it was fine at about 1:15 pm. (This occurred around 5 pm.) The cord was melted through, stuck to a side of one of the pieces of wood, and still actively burning. You couldn't smell or hear anything, even right in front of it, and you could only see the occasional wisp of smoke. Had I not noticed, my entire house could've caught fire.
