Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20241021-9E233-2147335832. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Jenn-Air JDS1750FS1 (Jenn-air dual fuel range with downdraft. Gas cooktop and electric oven.). Incident: A Jenn-air range model JDS1750FS1 was installed by a certified installer. The range is very dangerous. The 2 front burners are 4.25 inches wide and 17,000 BTU. I can only use the front burners when they are on the very lowest setting. Even then the heat is so intense that it burns my hands if I try to chop onions into a pan that is on the burner. The heat from the front burners is so intense that it warped the Stoveguard custom liner within 2 days of installing it. Since I can only cook on low, it makes sense to go from off to ignite to low when turning on the burners, then back to off. Instead, because of the configuration of the burners, I have to go from off to ignite to high (where the flames shoot out 2 inches around the bottom of the pan) and over to low. To turn it off, I have to watch out for the flames again. Before I knew to be extremely careful I picked up a pan with one hand and turned the burner off with the other hand. The sleeve on my arm that was holding the pan caught on fire as the flames shot out around the pan. The other problem is the oven. If I have the oven at 450 degrees for 1 hour, the shelf on the front of the range where the knobs are gets very hot. So hot I can't keep my hand on it and it would burn a baby's hand. The temperature of the shelf after only one hour was almost 120 degrees. It's because the heat isn't contained in the oven and instead comes out the top of the oven door. Also, when I have the oven at 450 degrees for 1 hour, the cabinets on either side of it get very warm. Metal items in the adjacent drawers get hot to the touch. I'm co
