Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20241108-EE8CA-2147335464. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: GE JS760SLSS (GE slide in range model JS760SLSS, convection oven, stainless). Incident: I set the self cleaning option for my GE slide in range (model JS760SLSS) for a 3 hour clean. The oven was not dirty nor grease filled, just getting ready to bake cookies the following day. Went to bed. The next day, when I opened the oven door, the interior glass was cracked completely open, in half top to bottom and the from the middle crack to one side and the entire inside of the oven was covered in white ash and a while film. The convection fan is covered too. Cant be wiped off -its not grease ash, I used no cleaning product. I just set the oven for a 3 hour self clean. Basically exploded while my family was asleep. Contacted GE, they sent a repairman fully commissioned, but they wont (cant) repair or even acknowledge that this was a safety issue. No one was hurt but myself, husband and daughter were all asleep in our home when this occurred
