Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250106-0264B-2147334107. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Electrolux ELTE 7600AT (Electrolux ELTE7600AT Laundry Tower.). Incident: Purchased a new Electrolux Laundry Tower ELTE7600AT. Every time a load is in the dryer on high heat the left side of the dryer gets so hot it can't be touched. I checked it with a thermal camera and it consistently shows 157 degrees. This is hot enough to cause skin burns. I contacted Electrolux to express my concern. They sent out a tech to check out the unit. He said the unit was operation as designed but agreed with me that having the exterior of a dryer get hot enough to burn someone was not safe. He called Electrolux to discuss with them and was told that this was the first time that this concern was being brought to them and that it was "normal" for the side to get hot. The tech mentioned that previous Electrolux dryers that he had worked on in the past had a black tar like substance on that side of the dryer that insulated the side from getting hot. My unit does not have that so the tech talked to Electrolux to make sure mine wasn't missing something and was told that is how they are made now. I am afraid a child might get burned or a fire could be caused.
