Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250417-63AFA-2147331891. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Cafe 36 Professional All-Gas Range CGY366P3T1D1 (GE 36 Pro Cafe Gas Range Matte Black $6,118 sale price). Incident: On numerous occasions our new 36 GE Pro Cafe gas range has ignited with the slightest bump by people walking by, leaning against or by our large dogs passing through the kitchen. I have resorted to removing the knobs and storing them beside this very expensive gas range in my newly remodeled foothills home. There are no aftermarket locks that fit these knobs. And, the range is not designed with any sort of locking option that can be engaged to prevent accidental ignition according to the manufacturer when I asked. I went to the store where I bought the range. They had one hooked up on display. I was able to demonstrate how quickly and easily these ranges will turn on and ignite with the slightest bump by someone walking by. Any household with children, elderly, and pets is at risk of this range being turned on and burning without realizing it until the house is on fire.
