Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250423-FC886-2147331771. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: GE Profile PGB965YP4FS (GE Profile - 6.8 Cu. Ft. Frestanding Double Oven Gas True Convection Range with No-Preheat Air Fry - Stainless Steel; 47 & 1/4 H, 30 W, 29 & 1/4 D; converted w/manufacturer-provided conversion kit to LP). Incident: I had set the lower oven on Bake at 400 for 30 minutes to burn off any manufacturers chemicals on my newly installed GE Profile Double Oven Freestanding Range with doors open for ventilation. About an hour later, the alarms began to sound. Our alarm monitoring company called to tell us to evacuate due to carbon monoxide. The alarm company phoned the Fire Department for us while we evacuated. The Fire Department measured the CO level coming from the top oven and found the levels to be over 250 ppm. They reported that this was the highest level of CO output that they had ever seen. We were told by the Fire Department not to use this appliance at all. They ventilated the house using fans and found CO levels throughout the house including the most distant rooms from the source.
