Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250424-216BA-2147331739. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LWC3063BD (LG Wall oven/micorwave combo- Model number LWC3063BD, Serial number 905KMCB0P491). Incident: LG ovens, both wall and free standing, with a blue ceramic coating has the coating flaking and peeling within the oven and oven floor. My oven is 6 years old and only used for light to normal cooking. The oven has never been cleaned with any products other than soap, water and soft sponge. I have found many consumer posts regarding this same issue. The flaking and coating residue has the potential to contaminate food that is being cooked in these ovens. The ceramic coating loss has also exposed the under layer of the oven that may cause it to overheat causing a fire hazard. After multiple attempts to obtain a resolution from LG to remedy this issue their only response is that the oven is no longer under warranty. LG has to be aware of this problem but either refuses to address or remedy the oven's defect. My LG model number is LWC3063BD. It was purchased in 2019. The issue became extremely noticeable within the last month but was present prior. At first I thought it was just some food residue that needed to be cleaned but upon wiping the area ceramic flakes and particles appeared on the paper towel. The bottom of the oven's ceramic coating is now coming off in large patches.
