Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250517-5A474-2147331247. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire FGIH3047VFD. Source model text: FGIH3047VF. Incident: The touch screen on my range is so sensitive that even if you bump it with parts of your body that are not your fingers it will turn on functions. Normally I hear the beep and turn it off. However, one evening I believe it turned itself on to the self-cleaning mode when I had pots and pans stored in it and caused hazardous smoke because of a silicone item that had been placed inside a pan. I could not get the self clean function to turn off and had to pull the range out to unplug it. Luckily I was able to open several windows and run several fans for hours until the worst of the smell was gone.
