Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250528-C0888-2147331027. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Bambu Lab PF002-A (Bambu Lab A1 White.). Incident: In January 2025, I purchased a 3D printer, an A1 Combo from BambuLabs, for my sons birthday. Everything has been working fine until April 1st of 2025. It was producing a weird noise from the hot end, and from there we filed a support ticket. After 20 days of back and forth through email, the only way to communicate with this company, as they do not have a phone number, a replacement sensor was shipped and delivered within a week. The expectation was for me to replace that part, which I did (took about 2 hours of work). It started up, worked for the first 25 mins, and after that we noticed a smell coming from the printer. It was not a plastic smell like Bambu said, it was the smell of burning PCB, the internals of the printer. After this, the printer started smoking and filled the room with a toxic odor. It appeared that something was on fire and after unplugging it, something was still on fire but died down after a bit. We had to open many windows just to not get sick and waited to leave our home to make sure it had cooled down. At this point, we were obviously worried to do something with this printer, and it was clear that so,nothing was terribally wrong, Bambus fault, maybe the replacement part was faulty (I followed their guide to repair it and took extra time to ensure I was doing tasks correctly). I then asked for a replacement or refund, although I was concerned about getting a replacement given this has caught on fire. Bambu, after 5 days through email, said it looked normal and that it was nothing to worry about, and I sent 6 videos of the incident, smoking in all,
