Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250605-1D11E-2147330817. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung RF30BB6600QL (Samsung refrigerator). Incident: On Friday, May 31st, 2025, my Samsung refrigerator (still under warranty) suddenly stopped working. A few hours later, it started emitting smoke and caught fire inside the lower back area of the unit. We were home and immediately unplugged the fridge . I contacted Samsung support the same day. On Tuesday, June 3rd, a technician came and inspected the unit. He confirmed the fridge had burned internally, and declared it non-repairable. Samsung has since told me to wait while engineers evaluate the case. As of today, Ive been without a refrigerator for 7 days, and Samsung has not provided a replacement, refund, or resolution. The fact that a relatively new refrigerator (still under warranty) can overheat and ignite poses a serious fire hazard, especially in a home with children. I am filing this report because this is a potential product safety issue, and I want to prevent others from facing similar risks.
