Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250625-C97DF-2147330172. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: KitchenAid model KCGC506JSS00. Incident: I have a KitchenAid 36 36-inch wide 6 6-burner gas Rangetop with Three-Level Convertible Grates. The issue is that the front knobs on the gas range top turn on WAY too easily. Without knowing, you can bump into the range top and the knob will turn on enough to allow the gas to flow from the valve often filling the house with natural gas. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. This incident has occurred more than a dozen times since moving into the home in October 2024. It was not until December of 2024 that I realised the problem was coming from the gas range top knobs moving to an open position for several weeks. I contacted KitchenAid they suggested that a technician come to look at the issue, so the solution from them was to turn in a safety report. Again contacted KitchenAid and received notice that I could remove knobs each time of use, add child safety knobs, or just be careful...no solution...just a band-aid fix. In looking into this issue, I have found reviews that mentioned this same issue on this same range top for many years. I also found several reviews on the KitchenAid site with similar issues noted. In addition, I contacted my local neighborhood site and took a poll asking if any others in the development had upgraded and purchased the appliance package with this same gas rangetop. In approximately 1 week, I have received 23 comments telling of the same issue with their gas rangetop. This is a VERY DANGEROUS issue. THIS AFTERNOON my family became extremely groggy, fell asleep wi
