Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250724-6EEE4-2147329326. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Canam Defender HD10 XT Max (2023 Canam Defender HD10 max, UTV). Incident: Owned a 2023 Canam Defender completely stock and while driving with my wife and daughter the unit caught fire. The fire was so intense that there is nothing left but the frame. Ive reached out to BRP (Canam) and filled out a report and they had me drop off the unit at a dealer. They denied any issues and have closed the investigation without even inspecting the unit. They dealer I dropped it off to stated that canam never sent anyone or never had them inspect the unit. There are multiple situations where these units catch fire out of nowhere. There were no injuries. We were causally driving checking our property boundaries driving around 20mph when I felt heat coming from the rear of the unit, when I turned around the bed was completely engulfed in flames. Had I not turned around when I did there would have been severe injuries as the fire engulfed the entire unit within seconds.
