Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250831-6CBC9-2147328195. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Anker Anker 773 Power Bank (GaNPrime Power Core 65 W) (White Anker 773 GaNPrime Power Bank, 2-in-1 Hybrid Charger, 10,000 mAh 30 W USB-C Portable Charger with 65W Wall Charger, Model A1651. Works for [REDACTED]. The serial number of the product: since the product got damaged, the some of the characters & numbers on it are not easy to read. This is the best I can do: A1YWEA0E30161197.). Incident: My daughter and son-in-law gave me a white Anker 733 power bank (model A1651) as a Christmas gift in December 2024. They ordered two it on Amazon - one (white) for me and another (black) for my husband, but he did not need it and gave it away to our married granddaughter (I just warned her about possible danger of this product). Yesterday I plugged the device in a perfectly fine electric outlet in my son's house in Georgia (where we are visiting now but will return to our home in Wisconsin by 3 September) and connected it to my [REDACTED] for charging. In about 10 minutes the power bank began burning emitting lots of horribly smelling (most likely toxic) smoke. Thankfully, I was in the same room with the device, so I immediately unplugged it and took it outside. It was hot and burning so I poured water on it. It is still warm to the touch today and smells badly. If we were upstairs, in the bathroom, in the backyard, or away for a walk at the time of the incident, there could have been a devastating fire.
