Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251016-FD1C3-2147327031. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire Item #5300950|Model #FCFE3062AS (Frigidaire 30-in Glass Top 5 burners 5.3-cu ft Slide-In Electric Range Stainless steel ) Item #5300950|Model #FCFE3062AS). Incident: My Frigidaire 30-inch glass-top, 5-burner, 5.3 cu ft slide-in electric range (Model FCFE3062AS, Lowes Item #5300950) turned on Broil mode by itself while not in use. Flames appeared inside the oven, and smoke began filling the kitchen and home. I immediately exited my home and called the fire department. Firefighters arrived quickly, extinguished the fire, and unplugged the appliance. They advised me not to use the range again. The product was being used in a residential kitchen at the time. Although I was preparing to cook, I hadn't turn the oven or stovetop on, nor had I touched the controls when the broiler activated. No injuries occurred, but there was smoke and soot damage inside the oven and smoke throughout in the house. This is the fourth incident with this range, three of which I contacted the manufacturer. One time, the warm zone turned on itself, without having touched the stove. The other incidents involved the lock feature engaging without having touched it. Since purchasing the home, the oven door locks often, requiring me to press and hold the lock buttonfor a specified period of time to open the door and operate the oven. However, the buttons stopped functioning while in locked mode, requiring a Friday 9/25 and 10/7, and a service technician replaced the control board on 10/14. I've contacted the manufacturer for the warranted product to report this and request a new range as I no longer trust this one. I will be obtaining the incident report from the City of Dallas Firestation. The product was being used in a residential kitchen at the time; no one was cook
