Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251021-992C8-2147326932. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LIPWUS Mini02 (Portable, Handheld, and Rechargeable Car Vacuum. Product by LIPWUS. Model number Mini02. Manufactured by NINGBO UNIT AUTO ACCESSORIES CO., LTD.). Incident: I brought this vacuum into my apartment when I got home to charge it and thank god I stayed home while it was plugged in. About 30 minutes into charging, I heard a loud popping noise similar to a light bulb bursting so I immediately got up to check if my lamp had caused the noise but it was fine and not even plugged in. Then I smelled smoke. I still could not figure out where it was coming from until I touched the vacuum on the charger to move it over and discovered it was burning hot and starting to smoke. I immediately took it off the charger and began carrying it out of my bedroom so I could ask my roommate to help me figure out how to dispose of it. I was so confused and was first only worried it would shock me then it fully exploded and went into flames while I was holding it. I threw it on the floor and called 911 while she grabbed the fire extinguisher and put it out quickly. The floors were damaged and it took us 2 whole days of cleaning to get the ash, smell of smoke, and extinguisher residue out of our ENTIRE apartment. We still had to pay to deep clean the home after. It was scary and the fact it exploded in my hand is traumatizing, but this was the best case scenario to happen. I could have left for work and it would have burned down my bedroom, my roommates bedroom, our dog if neither of us were home, the building???? We have a new born baby in the building. I could have left for the bathroom and not heard the first pop on the charger and it would have taken seconds for my bedroom to catch fire. I was charging it as shown on the product page. I checked the volt
