Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251026-944B9-2147326790. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: FridgeAire EFMIS222-Blue (FridgeAire mini beverage refrigerator 9 can 5L blue). Incident: On the morning of 10/16/25 we woke to our fire/smoke alarms going off in our upstairs home at 6:10 am. We immediately went for our 2 childern to get them out of the house and my husband proceeded to look for the source while I called 911. We discovered that our mini refrigerator was on fire in our office. My husband picked it up and ran it to our nearest bathroom and threw it in the bathtub and ran the water to extinguish the fire. The fire department came to verify the fire was out and nothing electrical spread through our wall. My husband and I then cleaned all to soot from the office bathroom and hallway and proceeded to air out the entirety of our upstairs. Luckily no injuries were present except mild smoke inhalation that was not treated by the hospital. We had a mini refrigerator in our office that had nothing in it at the time but was used for beverages in the past. it was ontop of a cabinet away from to wall by 4 inches.
