Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251028-C4CC3-2147326749. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire Model GCRI3058AFB. Source model text: GCRI3058AF. Incident: Frigidaire Induction Range burners turn on by themselves. All 4 burners turn on and get extremely hot, then the range beeps and the burners turned off, only to turn back on after a minute or so. This happened repeatedly and fill the house with a smell of burning plastic. I turned off the breaker for 15 minutes and within an hour it happened again, so we are leaving the breaker off and trying to work with the warranty service (through Home Depot) to have the unit replaced, but so far they have not been helpful. A technician came out to diagnose the range and did not find any issues and said that the Frigidaire service line spokesperson said he had never heard of this happening before, which seems hard to believe as you can find a lot of posts online about the same thing happening to others. I am continuing to try to work with the warranty service to get this replaced or some sort of compensation for a different range.
