Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251210-09530-2147325666. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Product: Jackery Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus Kit (6kWh) (Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus Kit (6kWh) - Explorer 2000 Plus Kit (6kWh) + SolarSaga 200W x 2 Issue: Strong chemical odor, suspected battery venting / off-gassing Hazard Type: Chemical exposure, respiratory symptoms, property contamination, unsafe indoor air, unauthorized property entry). Incident: Incident Description A Jackery portable power station began emitting a strong acetone-like chemical odor inside our home. The smell was concentrated near the unit and was detected by multiple witnesses. We recorded video evidence describing the odor and its effects. Following the odor release, all occupants in the home experienced immediate and ongoing health symptoms, including: Nosebleeds Shortness of breath Chest tightness and congestion Nasal congestion Difficulty breathing Severe headaches These symptoms only appeared after exposure to the smell coming from the battery unit. The chemical odor persisted and spread throughout the home, leading to significant contamination of personal property. We were forced to replace bedding and a mattress, replace affected walls, and wash all clothing at a laundromat due to the chemical exposure. Because of the severity of the odor, health effects, and lack of timely response on removal of the units we were displaced from our home for over a month. We have multiple witnesses who smelled the chemical odor and can confirm the timeline. We also have videos documenting the smell, symptoms, and indoor air conditions. Jackery later sent personnel to remove the battery, but those individuals entered our property while we were not there and without permission. Jackery refunded the cost of the unit but has not addressed the health impacts, property damage, or displacement that resulted from the hazardous failure.
