Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251215-F9BBA-2147325538. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire Professional Series Oven PCFG3080AFF (Frigidaire Professional Series 30 in 6 burner Slide-In Gas Range in Stainless Steel with Air Fry and Total Convection). Incident: Product: Gas Range / Oven Brand: Frigidaire Professional Series Model: PCFG3080AFF Hazard: Gas leak / Fire / Explosion serious and repeated safety failure involving two separate brand-new Frigidaire Professional Series gas ovens, model PCFG3080AFF, including a near-injury flash ignition event. The first unit was installed on November 17th. After only 23 short cooking cycles, the oven flame extinguished during operation, followed by continued release of gas into the oven cavity. A distinct puff sound was heard, the oven shut off, yet gas continued flowing, filling both the oven and the house. When my husband opened the oven door to investigate, he was met with a large red burst of flame, narrowly avoiding facial burns. His face was nearly singed, and this event could have resulted in serious injury or fire. Frigidaire replaced the unit with the same model. We have now experienced the identical failure mode again flame extinguishment followed by continued gas release, creating the same dangerous conditions. Two separate new appliances failing in the same manner strongly indicates a systemic defect involving the ignition system, gas valve, or flame-failure safety mechanism. Continued gas flow after flame loss particularly when combined with a flash ignition upon door opening represents a critical safety failure and an unacceptable risk of explosion, fire, and bodily harm.
