Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260105-FCE87-2147324848. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Google Pixel 6. Incident: I have a Google Pixel 6 that has been experiencing a degrading lithium ion battery that is both swelling and off gassing. It also had extremely high temperatures making it highly likely that is a fire hazard and at risk of a thermal breakaway. I replaced the phone and waited for a new Google store to open so I could get the faulty battery removed as it's too dangerous to send via mail. Google is treating this as a warranty issue and would like to charge $90 for repair vs treating it as a safety hazard.
