SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260114-8C2EE-2147324567. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Gotrax Gotrax GKS Mini Electric Scooter for Kids (Electric Kids Scooter). Incident: I am writing to report a serious safety incident involving one of the three Gotrax GKS Mini Electric Scooter for Kids (ages 612)that I purchased November 29, 2025 and was opened Christmas morning December 25, 2025. While the scooter was plugged in and charging with the original Gotrax charger, the battery caught fire on January 10, 2026 around 10pm ESTin my garage, producing heavy smoke and multiple popping/explosive sounds. The scooter had been charging for about four hoursat the time of the incident. For safety reasons, I had to move it outside immediately to prevent further damage to my home. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this was avery alarming and dangerous event, especially considering this is a childrens product that is nearly brand new and was used exactly as instructed. Important details: - Model: Gotrax GKS Mini Electric Scooter for Kids - Age of product: Opened about two weeks ago. - Charger used: Original manufacturer charger - Charging location: Garage - Incident: Battery fire with smoke and popping/explosions during charging The scooter is currentlyoutside and no longer in usedue to the risk of re-ignition.
